September Heritage Literacy Courses

Our online Heritage Literacy courses help heritage learners strengthen their reading and writing skills, jump-start their readiness for Intermediate or Advanced sequences, and fast-track their language proficiency to advanced and professional levels.

If you’re a heritage language learner—someone who was raised in a home where a language other than English was spoken, and/or has a personal, family, or community connection to the language but received the majority of their formal education in English—there’s a good chance your speaking and listening skills are stronger than your reading and writing skills. Our intensive, interactive, online September Heritage courses fill these gaps by focusing on foundational literacy skills and helping students build upon the language abilities they already possess.

These courses satisfy the College Language Competency Requirement. We strongly encourage students to continue studying the language to advance their language proficiency. After additional study, students may be eligible to take Foreign Language Proficiency Certification assessments.
