What is Box??

‘Box’ is a cloud storage service, similar to Google Drive or Dropbox. The University of Chicago has a site license with Box, so that you have free unlimited storage when you log in with your CNET-ID. There are many useful things you can do with Box, and if you are participating in the Language Center’s Language Pedagogy Innovation Initiative, it is how you will share your proficiency test materials with CLC staff.


Uploading files to a shared folder on Box

1. First, you will get an email that says “___ has added you to a folder on Box.” This means that CLC staff has created a folder for your test, labeled with your test’s language and proficiency level. This folder is accessible to you, any co-developers you may have, and CLC staff.

2. You can click the link in the email that says ‘View Folder’. This link should take you directly to your folder, after you log in with your CNET. (You can also access this and any other folders you may have in Box by going to uchicago.app.box.com and logging in with your CNET.)

3. You are now ready to add files to this folder. You can either click ‘Upload‘ in the top right corner of the page, or simply drag-and-drop files from the folders on your computer into the center of the webpage.

4. CLC staff does NOT get notified when you upload files, so it is a good idea to let us know when your files are ready to be viewed (but you do not need to notify us each time you upload something).
