2020 Mellon Curriculum Design Workshop
The University of Chicago Language Center is pleased to announce the Mellon Curriculum Design Workshop in the summer of 2020. Continuing to build on the proficieny-oriented reverse design model, the primary goal of our curriculum design and development program is to spur the development of curricular innovations that will help prepare students for the end-of-year proficiency tests that were developed in 2019.
This workshop is similar to the Mellon Test Design workshop in that participants will learn basics of the UChicago Language Center’s process and begin designing their projects; they then will then have the option of completing the development of their curricular innovations after the workshop has ended. The workshop is open to 2019 Mellon Test Design Workshop participants who completed development of a proficiency test.
Dates and Location
Two identical Curriculum Design Workshops will be offered twice during Summer 2020: Friday, May 15 to Sunday, May 17 and Monday, August 17 to Wednesday, August 19, both of which will be held in the Language Center on UChicago’s campus. Since the workshops are identical, participants only need to attend one or the other. Participants who are members of collaborative partnerships must attend with their partners.
Similar to the Test Design Workshop, travel, lodging, and meal expenses will be reimbursed by the Language Center. An incentive payment will be made upon completion of the curriculum development project.
