Virtual Tour of the LFRCC 209 (Video Studio/Satellite Viewing Room)
Members of the University of Chicago community can watch
SCOLA
news programs in the Satellite Viewing Room.
This room also serves as a video
production studio and seminar room for small language classes. C 210 (Interactive Multimedia Resource Center)
The Interactive Multimedia Resource Center (C210), which receives regular equipment upgrades, is designed to assist foreign language study in a multimedia environment. The Videodidact system, which controls computers and other equipment, allows an instructor to project information on students' computer screens and to interact with inidividual students. In addition, feature films and or pedagogical recordings on VHS tape or DVD can be used in this room. C 211(Office)
The main office of the LFRC provides foreign language instructors with audio/video equipment and general work space. Instructors have access to computers, office supplies, and a photocopier. In addition, they can preview audio/video tapes and borrow equipment for classroom use. The office also has a lending library of videos and other instructional materials. SCOLA Recording Satellite news broadcast by SCOLA can be recorded upon request from instructors. These tapes are used in class or stored in the Language Labs (SS 4) for students to watch at their convenience. Tape-to-Tape Editing (NTSC/PAL/SECAM)
In the LFRC, instructors can preview NTSC videos and edit tape-to-tape. With copyright permission, back-up copies of video tapes can be made with this equipment. Multimedia Development Room
In the Multimedia Development Room, instructors can edit
audio/video and digital video recordings. They can also transfer
audio/video from one source to another. The room offers two color
scanners for the purpose of graphic work and multimedia courseware
development.
